The Story: Whenever I'm down or feeling in a funk or just having a lazy morning, I listen to an inspirational song called "The Sunscreen Song" by writer/director Baz Luhrmann. Many phrases in his song ground me and put things into perspective, but one particular phrase stands out as it reminds me to be active, curious, and ever-striving for something greater. I wrote this quote down on my green dog-bordered notepad and stuck it up on my wall and it reads: "Do one thing every day that scares you." There's a special power that's given to you (by none other than yourself really) when you accomplish something you're terribly afraid of. It's an energy that is really hard to dispel once achieved, and it makes you feel like you can do anything that day. This energy washes away all past anxieties that you have at the time, and empowers you to achieve more with a refreshed confidence.
