Tell us your story:
I have held on to this camera perhaps since January waiting for the right moment. It is strange because when the time came I almost felt shy asking to take a picture, but realized if I didn't do it at that moment I may never have the chance again. My stepfather was diagnosed with brain cancer 2 weeks ago and they discovered 3 tumors in his head. His journey inspires me as he is a veteran and has survived till the age of 87 with a triple bypass heart surgery, one lung and a half, kidney problems and now cancer. He never ceases to smile and make a pun whenever he can. Despite the hand he's been dealt, he is still fighting and loves my mother. She found love in her 50s and never thought that would have been possible. Together they demonstrate the beauty of pure love. My mother is my greatest inspiration and always will be. She was the first of her family to immigrate from El Salvador to America. She's been able to live the American dream despite being illiterate making her the smartest person I know. Imagine a world where you do not understand the signs in front of you and being unable to communicate through written word. Her emphasis on education and hard work being the key to success is forever engrained in my heart. Her strength and kindness is beyond me as her heart still full of peace, love, and hope.
